Only a handful of current producers capture the true essence of Balearic disco, Ilya Santana is definitely one of the few. He’s very emotionally involved in his own productions as well as his remixes and re-edits – and picks them very carefully. I’ve listened to LOTS of italo and cosmic disco – this guy really knows his shit and keeps it real.
He just released his new EP Burning Jupiter off of Eskimo Recordings (home to Bottin, Aeroplane, and Prins Thomas amongst others) and has a excellent collection of remixes including Dolly Parton, Lindstrom & Christobelle, Zodiac, and Space to name a few. Santana currently lives in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain but can be found DJing all over. Hats off.
